Leigh Ann Henion is a freelance writer and photographer based in Boone, North Carolina. Her essays, articles and photographs have appeared or are forthcoming in publications such as Smithsonian, The Washington Post Magazine, The Christian Science Monitor and Orion.
 

During her tenure as a staff writer for The Mountain Times, Leigh Ann published hundreds of feature stories and photographs. She has received numerous state and national press association awards for her work.

Leigh Ann is currently pursuing an M.F.A. in Creative Writing. She holds a B.A. in Cultural Studies, as well as an M.A. in Appalachian Studies. Additionally, she is a graduate of The Salt Institute for Documentary Studies.
